Tenerife’s Bluetrail is Back for 2012

Sports enthusiasts will be happy to hear that Tenerife Cabildo has confirmed that the popular event is set to take place on October 20th this year.

Tenerife Bluetrail has already established itself as one of the best mountain races to take place in the Canary Islands. Last year’s challenge attracted over 600 runners and the Cabildo is more confident than ever of attracting just as many – if not more – participants than previously.

Details of this year’s sporting event were released at a press conference by Cabildo vice-president – Carlos Alonso, with Environment Councillor – Analupe Mora, Sports Councillor –Cristo Pérez, Arona Tourism Councillor – Francisco Niño and the event’s technical director – Darío Dorta.

Tenerife Bluetrail will be split into four categories – the UltraTrail, the Trail, the Medium Trail and the Adapted Trail, each of a different distance and inclination. Within these categories there are nine sections for different ages and genders.

Like last year, the starting point for the UltraTrail will be the port at Los Cristianos, the Trail will begin at Parador de Las Cañadas and the Medium Trail and Adapted Trail will both begin from the recreation area in La Caldera. The final destination for all the trails will be the Pinolere Ethnographic Park in La Orotava.
