El Medano Beach

The Granadilla coast has the island’s best beaches, of fine golden sand.

El Médano is a small, quiet, family holiday resort, with the longest beach in Tenerife (2km) and shallow seas. There is direct access from the TF-1 motorway.

The beach has changing rooms and showers in the nearby square. There is a kiosk and many bars and restaurants in the area, as well as a tourist information office (Tel 922 176002).

Windsurfing

El Medano and El Cabezo Bay and beach are well-known windsurfing hotspots in the windsurfing scene – this is a World Cup Windsurfing beach.

The atmosphere of this bohemian resort is very much like a bustling Spanish village.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that El Medano is at the forefront of the windsurfing scene. It is also very popular with kite surfers.

The spot is a particular favourite with intermediate and advanced windsurfers – and advanced kite surfers who can deal with dodging the many windsurfers and the rocks positioned at the end of the bays.
