Vilaflor Tenerife

The one-time spa town of Vilaflor perches high above the coast and enjoys the accolade of Tenerife's highest village.
The pure upland air, clear local springs and incredible views from the base of the surrounding forest makes it easy to see why people once flocked here to improve their health.
Today the town consists of charming old brick and tile houses, and although short on facilities, still makes for a tranquil and practical upland base for hikers and ramblers exploring the local pine forests and the nearby National Park.
The town's main street, Calle Santo Domingo, leads onto the main plaza which is dominated by the imposing Iglesia de San Pedro. There are also a number of handicraft shops scattered around selling woodcarvings and lace but if you're serious about buying lace work then pop in to the tiny shop, Artesania Delfina where there are often lace-making displays as well as a wide range of locally made handicrafts.
Vilaflor is less than an hour's drive from Los Cristianos and is well worth a visit.
