Fañabe is fast emerging as the smartest resort in the Playa de las Americas region of Tenerife.

Intended to attract the more upmarket clientele and the high spending golf fraternity this resort on the fringes of Costa Adeje is most definitely a "work in progress". Construction work aside the area is rapidly gaining a reputation for quality hospitality.
The centrepiece of this chic neighbourhood is the majestic Gran Hotel Melia Bahia del Duque which has become something of a tourist attraction by virtue of its lavish décor and extravagant architecture.
This impressive hotel makes the most of the island's heritage and its buildings mirror the fairytale style of some of the 19th century houses that grace the island. The staff are decked out in traditional Canarian costume which gives the place the rather odd feel of a living museum.
Visitors are welcome to wander around the complex from 6.30pm onwards and though regulations stipulate a smart dress code, you should have no trouble getting in as long as you're not wearing shorts.
