Tenerife has just announced its new project, Volcanoes of Life. Millions of euros are being spent on this new project, which plans to take advantage of the volcanic nature of the Canary Islands, with Tenerife being the main focus point.
Tenerife remains the only island in Europe where all the volcanic processes can be appreciated and José Manuel Bermúdez, the island tourism councillor, suggests that Tenerife should exploit this advantage. A volcano route would be a unique tourist attraction, distinguishing Tenerife from all other competition and at the same time, making it impossible for any other island to mimic.
José explained, "this way we are able to show the richness of the volcanoes in their natural environment and promote them as a tourism attraction". He continued to describe how "this project is to complement our sun and beach offer and differentiate the island from other competing tourism destinations which do not have the diverse amount of options we have".
Volcanoes of Life is not just an exciting project for tourists; many jobs will be created through this programme, with full training given. The project will require interpretative guides in many different languages who will be given full training, along with courses available for receptionist positions.
