Icod del los Vinos is home to the 1,000 year old Drago Milenario or Dragon Tree.
The exact age of this famous monster is unknown, but it is certainly the oldest of its kind in existence, and at over sixteen metres tall and with a girth of six metres it is undoubtedly the largest.
The much-photographed view of the tree is from the lushly vegetated Plaza de la Iglesia which hosts the beautiful 16th century Iglesia de San Marcos (Church of St Mark).
