Teide Parador Hotel
Located over 2,000 metres above sea level, this government hotel is the only building in the crater of Las Cañadas del Teide.
The purpose-built Teide Parador Hotel won praise in 2003 for its "exceptional value" and "excellent food" and enjoys views over some of the most unusual and primitive landscapes on the planet.
Situated as it is in the centre of the island everything is within reasonable travelling distance including the baroque influenced, university town of La Laguna with its churches and public buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
The hotel itself is furnished in a traditionally stark Spanish style with dark wood interiors and an open fire in the spacious lounge/bar area. Dinner is influenced by the best in Canarian cuisine so expect specialities such as rabbit stew and potatoes in their skin complemented by a range of local red and white wines.
