Aguaviva 2008

Since it began just 4 years ago, Aguaviva Canarias has become one of the top promotional events in the Canary Islands.
It originated solely as a music festival, but as of 2007 has focused on protecting and maintaining the oceans surrounding the Canary Islands. It runs a multitude of activities and events to promote its environmental cause, including workshops, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, diving courses, submarine trips, ocean-floor clearing and the releasing of turtles trapped inland.
Aguaviva's activites will take place from 1st - 15th June, encompassing both World Environment Day (5th June) and World Ocean Day (8th June). This of course includes the music festival Aguavivafest, arguably the pinnacle of the entire event, on 13th and 14th June. This ambitious project has gone from strength to strength - this year will see celebrations on Tenerife and Gran Canaria simultaneously for the first time. The concert will feature prominent acts, most notably this year the internationally famous Jamiroquai - who kick-start their latest World Tour in the Canary Islands on 14th June, 3 years after their last performance in Spain.
The presence of well-known musical acts is vital to endorse the work of Aguaviva, and their involvement in its projects also helps to attract tourists to the island. During the concerts, artists promote the cause by sending out messages to their audience, related to the organisation's slogan "United for the Oceans". Come and see for yourself!
