Arona council have presented plans for the new park in Cho-Parque de la Reina to local residents.
The park architect Francisco Suárez joined the mayor José Alberto González Reverόn and works councillor Ramón Garcίa Hernández at the meeting to unveil the new plans. Elected officials revealed that the work on the park should start at the end of July and is expected to last 12 months. The local Employment and Sustainability fund will finance the entire project which is expected to exceed three million Euros.
Planners have ensured that the needs of all potential users of the park have been taken into consideration in the design of the new 10,000m2 urban recreational area.
The mayor said that, on its completion, the park would be a continuation of the government's promise to create green zones in all neighbourhoods in an attempt to improve "the quality of life in every part of the borough, with green zones, areas for enjoyment, areas that would encourage the developments of friendships among neighbours and improve social cohesion."
Francisco Suarez discussed his plans for the park and said that one of its most important features would be a main square that can be used for public fiestas and local celebrations. The area would also include a central fountain and areas shaded by pergolas.
Also included in the design was a children's playground with a designated section for ‘under threes', an exercise zone, a sporting pavilion with circuit zones and a particular area allocated to pets.
