The Mata Ki Te Rangi Foundation and Piramides de Guimar Ethnographic Park officially opened the exhibition, entitled: Rapa Nui, Polynesia: Extreme Survival.
The host of the grand presentation - Mr. Olsen - was accompanied by the President of Tenerife's Cabildo, the Deputy Mayor of Easter Island, the Mayor of Guimar and the Chilean Consult of Tenerife.
Haoa Sonia - an archaeologist from Easter Island - was commissioned to guide the guests around the exhibition, giving detailed descriptions and explanations of each piece.
The exhibition is supported by the Chilean National Commission for UNESCO and aims to highlight how the Polynesian society ensures the survival of its people in an extremely impoverished environment.
Rapa Nui is the most isolated islands on the planet and because of this, it proves to be a tough challenge for the people who live there just to survive.
The Rapa Nui, Polynesia: Extreme Survival exhibition serves as a warning of the effects of destructive action towards the environment by human beings.
