Vibrant Hindu Fair raises much needed funds for Haiti victims

Following the success of last year's event, the Hindu community of south Tenerife, in conjunction with Adeje council, organised another Hindu Fair. This year, funds raised on the day were donated to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti via UNICEF and the Red Cross.
Held just outside the Adeje football stadium, the event was a sensory sensation, with plenty of stalls selling tasty, authentic Indian and Indonesian cuisine as well as ethnic jewellery, ornaments, rugs, clothing and accessories.
The fair included activities for children, as well as astrology readings and workshops. The stage was busy throughout the day with live entertainment from DJs and singers as well as dance presentations, including a captivating display of belly dancing by performers from Santa Cruz.
José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, Mayor of Adeje, was pleased with the turnout on the day and stressed the importance of future events to bring together the diverse cultures living and visiting the island.
Juan Francisco Reverón, President of the Red Cross, thanked everyone for their attendance and support, especially the organisers who had chosen the Red Cross to receive the funds to support the Haiti victims.
