Younger tourists choose Tenerife
A recent survey carried out by the association for Tenerife Tourism and another tourist related organisation, shows that Tenerife is becoming a more popular destination for younger tourists.
The most frequent young visitors to Tenerife are the Spanish with young Russians (the fastest growing market of the past few years) in second place. Young German tourists are also on the increase closely followed by Danish and Italian visitors.
Family tourism in Tenerife has increased by 18 per cent in total so far this year and 13% of these have a child of age 15 or less in their party, which is an increase of 4.3 per cent on last year. The survey has revealed that that the average age of a typical Tenerife Tourist is 46 years old.
On average a typical Tenerife tourist will spend 104 Euros a day which is up by 1.71%. Also up is the number of people who take advantage of the many varied activities and excursions on the island. Figures show more people are visiting theme parks, taking one of the many island excursions and whale and dolphin cruises. There is a significant rise in Tourists who holiday in Tenerife and combine this with a trip out to the other Canary Islands.
The survey also showed that Las Americas and Los Cristianos are not the only popular destinations on the island. In fact more people than ever are choosing to explore this wonderful island and are choosing to go to other areas of the island like Los Gigantes, Masca, Candelaria, Mount Teide and La Orotava these figures have increased by 3.5 per cent compared to 2007 figures.
These statistics will be particularly helpful to businesses that rely on tourism when planning their marketing strategy towards a younger demographic.
